Justice (1985)
1985 Stainless Steel, h43.3'xw40'xd40', weight 14.5 metric tons
Manitoba Provincial Court, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Commissioned by Province of Manitoba, Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Sport
The ideal of Justice confronts the edifice of Justice. Thirteen meters in height and nearly as wide at the base the tripodal form is a structure of great strength and integrity capable of supporting the dynamic load of three, twelve-meter long, movable arms weighing one metric ton each. Suspended twelve meters in the air these are the principles suspended from the framework of Justice. Even a child, the most vulnerable member of a just society, is able to move these great weights.
